Waikato College of Xi’an Aeronautical University Debuts on the Official China-New Zealand Education

On July 30, the New Zealand-China Education Partnership Showcase and Exchange Conference was held in Guangzhou. The event aimed to showcase the cooperation achievements between New Zealand public institutes of technology and Chinese institutions in transnational education. Representatives from many Chinese universities and heads of 11 New Zealand institutes of technology attended together. Waikato College of Xi'an Aeronautical University was approved by the Ministry of Education in January 2026.

It is the university's first Sino-foreign cooperative education institution, offering three undergraduate majors: Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation; Automation; and Information and Computing Science. Its total enrollment is 1,200 students, and it adopts a 4+0 dual-certificate model. After graduation, students can receive an undergraduate diploma and bachelor's degree certificate from Xi'an Aeronautical University as well as a bachelor's degree certificate from Waikato Institute of Technology.

China-New Zealand education cooperation is shifting from cross-border student mobility to the localized delivery of courses and qualifications.
