XCMG Chairman Promotes Green Mining at Boao Perth Forum

Summary

Yang Dongsheng, chairman of XCMG, attended the Boao Forum for Asia's Perth meeting on 27 July and joined a roundtable on energy transition and green industry opportunities amid the Middle East crisis. He said the global mining sector's green shift hinges on three coordinated efforts: sustained R&D, digital and intelligent transformation across the value chain, and deep localisation. XCMG, he added, will back the energy transition with its full range of new-energy mining equipment and zero-carbon smart mining solutions.

On the sidelines, Yang met Gabonese Vice President Imongo and gave an exclusive interview to The Australian Financial Review, elaborating on XCMG's long-term commitment and localisation strategy in Australia.

Commentary

As a leading Chinese construction machinery maker, XCMG's new-energy equipment and zero-carbon solutions are well aligned with the global push to decarbonise mining. For SMEs in Oceania,

opportunities may emerge in the secondary market for equipment leasing and maintenance services as XCMG deepens its presence in Australia. At the same time, these firms face competitive pressure as the shift away from traditional fuel-powered machinery accelerates.
